To fly without supervision in Switzerland, you must obtain a Swiss paragliding pilot's license issued by the FSVL/SHV (Swiss Paragliding Federation).
Pilot training in Switzerland is primarily intended for people residing in Switzerland or those planning to move there. While it is also possible for foreign pilots to train in Switzerland, recognition of Swiss training by other countries is not guaranteed and depends on the regulations in place in each country.
Training Structure

1. Basic Course (3 to 4 days)

Basic theory lessons

Tandem flight for instructional purposes

First solo flights
Objectives:
Learn the basics of inflation, wing control, takeoff and landing, as well as the initial safety rules during a tandem flights for instructional purposes.
A theory lesson is given before the first solo flight, supplemented by practical application in the simulator.

2. Instruction flights, theory courses, and ground handling practice

Minimum 50 flights supervised by an instructor needed for the practical exam

Flights conducted at at least 5 different pragliding sites

Theory courses covering the 5 branches: Gear, aerodynamic, flight practice, meteorology, legislation

Ground handling practice sessions, essential for safe and efficient progression

3. Theory exam

Theory test in the form of multiple-choice questions

Subjects: meteorology, Aerodynamics, equipment, legislation and flight practice.

The theoretical exam must be passed before taking the practical exam.
4. Practical Exam

On-site assessment of flight skills

Exam conducted by FSVL/SHV examiners

Only after successfully passing the theory exam
